chest-of-drawers-18
Flamed Mahogany Chest of Drawers

Bedroom storage should feel as good to use as it looks, and this serpentine-fronted chest brings a touch of period elegance to daily life while still doing the practical job asked of it. It would sit comfortably against a wall or between windows, offering generous drawer space for clothing and linens.

This chest is fitted with three graduating drawers, each with a flamed mahogany veneered front and dressed with brass drop handles. The flame mahogany veneers create a striking, symmetrical grain pattern across the drawer fronts, while the shaped apron adds further interest to the design, giving the piece an elegant stance typical of the style.

The previous darker stain has been stripped, and multiple coats of hard-wearing lacquer have been applied, providing a durable, long-lasting finish while accentuating the natural mahogany grain. This item is made from mahogany veneer, with the back made from pine and the drawer bases made from plywood. As an older piece, it retains signs of its history, including cracks and age-related marks to the top, some wear and losses around the drawer mouldings, and considerable cosmetic wear to the back. These details contribute to its rustic appearance and are shown in the photographs.

With its shapely lines and warm tones, this chest would make a charming and useful addition to any bedroom looking for a little traditional character.

[dimensions][w]114[/w][h]87[/h][d]57[/d][/dimensions]
