The three full-width drawers graduate in depth, whilst the deep central drawer is opened by lifting a child-lock-style mechanism underneath by opening the drawer below and reaching in. It is a secret storage area which looks like a central panel.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo the left of this drawer is a 'double-depth' drawer and to the right are two smaller drawers. In addition, the top of this chest has another small drawer which is shown clearly in the photos. The keyhole escutcheons were missing when we acquired this piece, so we have filled the gaps left behind and smoothed them over. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThere are a few areas of minor cosmetic damage on this chest of drawers, which we have filled, and some small sections of veneer are missing on the frame. These imperfections are very much in keeping with a period piece of this age and just add to its overall character. We have shown these areas in the accompanying photos.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe previous finish on this chest of drawers has been stripped back, and several coats of hard-wearing matte lacquer have been applied, preserving the wood and bringing out the mahogany's natural depth. This chest is constructed from a combination of solid mahogany and mahogany veneer, with a pine carcass and drawer sections.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith its generous storage and traditional detailing, this chest is a functional item of furniture that is brimming with character.
