Constructed predominantly from wild cherry, it features pine feet, drawer bases and back panelling, reflecting the traditional combination of timbers used in its construction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe chest offers excellent storage with two smaller drawers across the top and three generously sized full-width drawers below. Dovetail joints are evident on the drawer sides, while traditional brass ring handles and keyhole escutcheons complement the simple, well-proportioned design. It stands on rounded pine feet beneath a substantial plinth base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs part of the restoration, the chest has been stripped and finished with lacquer to protect the timber while retaining its natural character. A crack to the front right-hand side of the chest has also been carefully repaired by opening the affected joint before glueing, clamping and reinforcing it with pins to provide a secure and lasting repair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs shown in the photographs, there are numerous age-related marks, scratches, dark markings and signs of historical use throughout, with these being particularly noticeable across the top surface. There are also visible old fixing and repair marks around some of the handles.
