A tall chest of drawers is an excellent way to add generous storage to a bedroom while making efficient use of floor space. This restored mahogany chest on chest brings traditional character to the room, with its warm colour and elegant proportions making it well suited to both classic and more contemporary interiors.

The piece is arranged in two sections, with two smaller drawers at the top followed by six spacious full-width drawers, providing plenty of practical storage for clothing, linens and other belongings. Traditional brass-coloured ring handles and decorative keyhole escutcheons complement the rich mahogany finish, while the moulded cornice, graduated drawer arrangement and raised bracket-style feet give the chest a distinctive period appearance.

The previous finish has been carefully stripped back before multiple coats of hard-wearing lacquer have been applied, refreshing the surface while retaining the warm tones and natural character of the timber. As an older piece, there are signs of previous use and age, including marks and wear to the top, along with areas of damage and historic repair around some of the drawer dividers and runners, as shown in the photographs. These imperfections remain part of the chest's character and should be considered when purchasing. The item is constructed from a combination of mahogany and pine, with plywood used for the drawer bases.

With substantial storage, traditional detailing and the character that comes with an older piece of furniture, this restored chest on chest offers both practicality and period style. Its tall, relatively compact footprint makes it particularly useful where plentiful drawer space is required without occupying excessive floor area.

Shipping Information

Almost all of the items you find on our website have been indiviudually sourced and restored at one of our workshops which are located around the country. This means that when you buy from us you are are getting a piece of furniture like no other, but it also means we can't just take one off the shelf and ship it to you from a convenient central warehouse location.

We work with specialist furniture couriers to get furniture to you in the most cost-effective, reliable manner possible, but as a small charity we are unable to absorb all of their charges into our day-to-day running costs, and so we need to pass on some of this cost.

Delivery Times

We aim to deliver all pieces within three to four weeks of purchase, although delivery to some locations may take a little longer than this on occasion. Delivery of items may be postponed - and pieces stored - for a short period at the customers request.

After you make a purchase we will return your items to our workshop for checking over and packaging, and then book an appropriate courier service - this usually happens within a couple of days. Once they have been notified of your order, and an idea of their delivery schedule for your delivery area, the courier will contact you directly to arrange a suitable delivery slot.

If you purchase multiple items from different locations we will usually group your whole order together at one of our locations before despatching with the courier, so that you only have to recieve a single delivery with all of your items. This may delay shipping your order a little.

Delivery Service

Our standard courier service involves a two person delivery team who will deliver to a ground or first-floor room of your choice. Please check that the item(s) you are considering will fit through doorways and where necessary upstairs. If you are unsure what is best for your situation, then please call or drop us an email before making a purchase, we'll be happy to help figure things out.

We sometimes have items that require more specific handling on delivery. These might be particularly large, heavy or fragile items, or they may require some skilled assembly. For these products there will be a note on the product page flagged as such on the product page; please get in touch to talk about the specifics of an item like this before making a purchase so we can help to plan a suitable delivery.

Collection & Local Delivery

Many items are available to collect during normal business hours, from the specific location shown on the product page. To help everything go smoothly, please let us know ahead of time if you are planning to collect your furniture, so that we can make sure it's readily accessible for you. Address and contact details for each of our locations can also be found on our 'Stores' page. Please note that proof of purchase and identity will be required when collecting items that were purchased online.

If you live within a few miles of the location of the furniture indicated on the product page we may be able to incorporate delivery into our local service. Please contact us to discuss this option prior to purchase.

Delivery Areas

Our standard delivery service covers most of England, Wales, and southern Scotland, but does not cover Jersy, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland, nor post code areas KY, HS, IV, KW, PH and ZE in northern Scotland. There are some areas of FK (8-21), KA (27-28) and PA (20-80) postcodes that are also outside of our standard delivery area.

If you are looking to purchase from us, but live in an area that we don't cover as standard, then please get in touch by phone or email to find out what we can do for you.

Returns & Refunds

We are confident that you will be delighted with your furniture, but in the event that you should wish to return an item to us, we are pleased to respect your right to a 14 day money back guarantee for items purchased online, beginning on the day your items are delivered. This means you have the right to cancel your order for any reason, up to 14 days after you receive your furniture, and receive a full refund for the items purchased. Delivery charges are non-refundable and you will also be responsible the for the return shipping, where there is no fault with the item delivered; We are happy to arrange for return of items with our courier but please be aware that our outward shipping rates are often discounted, so in some cases the cost of return shipping by this method may be more than the original delivery charge - please consult the table of delivery charges above to see what a return might cost based on the shipping band for each product.

You are also welcome to bring or send your item back using transport of your choice; in this case your refund will be processed once the furniture has been received and inspected at one of our workshops.
